Before Booking

Please review the following information before scheduling with Ascending Minds Psychiatry. These guidelines will help you determine whether AMP is the right fit for your needs and what to expect before your first appointment.

  • Ages Served: Adolescents and adults ages 12–55

  • Location: Telehealth appointments available throughout Virginia

  • Initial Evaluation: 90 minutes

  • Follow-Up Appointments: 30 minutes

  • Controlled Substances: Ascending Minds Psychiatry does not prescribe controlled substances, including stimulants, benzodiazepines, opioids, or other controlled medications.

  • Communication: Patients are required to register for Spruce Health, our secure, HIPAA-compliant communication platform.

  • Payment: Full payment is due before each appointment.

  • Card on File: A valid credit or debit card must remain on file for active patients.

  • Outstanding Balances: Appointments may be canceled or rescheduled until outstanding balances are paid.

  • Cancellations & No-Shows: Appointments canceled with less than 48 hours' notice and missed appointments are subject to a $125 fee.

  • Attendance: Two or more late cancellations or missed appointments may result in scheduling restrictions or discharge from the practice.

These policies help support appointment availability and continuity of care for all patients.

  • Psychiatric care for adolescents or adults ages 12–55

  • Personalized, collaborative psychiatric care

  • Comprehensive 90-minute initial evaluations

  • Telehealth care throughout Virginia

  • Evening or Sunday appointment availability

  • Optional faith and spirituality integration

This practice may not be the best fit if you are seeking:

  • Controlled-substance management, including stimulants or benzodiazepines

  • ADHD or autism evaluation as the primary reason for treatment

  • Treatment for an active substance use disorder or eating disorder requiring specialized care

  • Treatment of severe conduct disorder or oppositional defiant disorder as the primary concern

  • Emergency or crisis psychiatric services

  • Court-ordered or forensic psychiatric evaluations

  • Disability, FMLA, or legal evaluations as the primary reason for treatment

  • A level of care beyond routine outpatient psychiatric treatment
