At this time, Ascending Minds Psychiatry does not bill insurance directly, some patients may be eligible for reimbursement though their out-of-network benefits. Patients are encouraged to contact their insurance company to determine eligibility.

Yes. Upon request, patients may receive a superbill that can be submitted to their insurance company for potential out-of-network reimbursement. Reimbursement is not guaranteed and varies based on your individual insurance plan. We recommend contacting your insurance carrier directly to verify out-of-network benefits.

Mediation Management & Supportive Psychotherapy (30 minutes): $275

Item descriFor patients under the age of 18, a parent or legal guardian must remain actively involved in treatment. Parents or legal guardians are required to be available to provide consent for medications and any medication changes. In most cases, parents will participate in the first 5-10 minutes of each appointment to discuss progress, concerns, and treatment recommendations before the adolescent meets individually with the provider. This collaborative approach helps ensure safe, effective, and age-appropriate care.

Ascending Minds Psychiatry does not prescribe controlled substances, including stimulant medications, benzodiazepines, or certain sleep medications. Patients requiring these medications may be referred to a provider whose practice specializes in their management.

Your initial evaluation is a comprehensive assessment where we discuss your symptoms, medical history, treatment goals, and concerns. Together, we will develop a personalized treatment plan.

Not necessarily. Medication recommendations are based on your individual needs, symptoms, preferences, and treatment goals. Medication is only prescribed when clinically appropriate.

Medication is only one of many tools available, and treatment decisions are made collaboratively based on your goals and preferences.

Yes. We recognize that mental health is influenced by many factors, including physical health, sleep, nutrition, stress, relationships, personal values, and spiritual beliefs. Treatment recommendations are tailored to the whole person and may include medication, supportive psychotherapy, lifestyle interventions, and other evidence-based strategies to support overall well-being.

With your permission, family members or other support persons may participate in portions of appointments when clinically appropriate and beneficial to your care.

Follow-up frequency varies based on your needs and treatment plan. Most patients are seen every 4-12 weeks once stable.

Yes. All appointments are conducted through a secure HIPPA-compliant telehealth platform allowing you to receive care from the comfort and privacy of your home anywhere in Virginia.

Prior psychiatric treatment is not required. Whether you are seeking care for the first time or transitioning from another provider, we will review your history and develop a treatment plan tailored to your current needs.

Ascending Minds Psychiatry is a telehealth practice serving patients throughout Virginia. In-person visits are not currently offered.

Yes. For patients who desire it, faith and spirituality can be respectfully integrated into treatment planning and ongoing care. This is always patient-directed and never required.

Appointment availability varies based on scheduling. Same-day and next-day appointments may be available within two hours of appointment start time. Patients can request appointments online through the patient portal.

Follow-up appointments include supportive psychotherapy, medication management, education, and treatment planning. Patients requiring intensive or specialized psychotherapy may be referred to a therapist for additional support.

Yes. Your privacy is important. Information shared during treatment is protected in accordance with HIPPA and applicable laws, with limited exceptions related to safety concerns or legal requirements.

No referral is required. Patients may schedule an appointment directly.

We require at least 48 hours’ notice for cancellations or rescheduling. Appointments canceled with less than 48 hours’ notice may be subject to a cancellation fee of $125.

A $125 no-show fee will be charged to the card on file. After two missed appointments, patients may be discharged from the practice.

Yes. An active debit/credit card is required to remain on file for all patients.

Requests for forms and documents are reviewed on a case-by-case basis and may be subject to additional fees.
In general, paperwork will not be completed until you have been an established patient of the practice for at least three (3) months. This allows sufficient time to develop an accurate understanding of your symptoms, functioning, treatment needs, and response to care.
Completion of paperwork is not guaranteed and will depend on clinical appropriateness, available documentation, and professional judgement.

Patients may send non-urgent messages through the patient portal. Messages are reviewed during business hours.

Patients need a reliable internet connection and a smartphone, tablet, or computer equipped with a camera and microphone.

Ascending Minds Psychiatry provides outpatient psychiatric services. If a patient requires a higher level of care, such as intensive outpatient treatment, partial hospitalization, inpatient hospitalization, or emergency services, appropriate referrals will be provided whenever possible.

If you are experiencing a psychiatric emergency, having thoughts of harming yourself or others, or need immediate assistance, call 911 or go to the nearest emergency room. This practice does not provide emergency or crisis services.

Ascending Minds Psychiatry uses Spruce Health for secure communication. Patients must complete a free HIPAA-compliant registration before messaging services can be used.

Ascending Minds Psychiatry currently provides telehealth services to patients located in Virginia at the time of their appointment.

Major credit and debit cards are accepted. Payment is due before the appointment begins.

Ascending Minds Psychiatry is an independent solo practice. At this time, formal cross-coverage is not available during periods when the provider is out of the office due to vacation, illness, personal emergency, or other unforeseen circumstances.
Patients will be notified in advance whenever possible regarding planned absences. During these periods, routine medication refills, appointment requests, form completion, and non-urgent communications may be delayed until the provider returns.
Ascending Minds Psychiatry is not a crisis service and does not provide 24/7 coverage. If you are experiencing a psychiatric emergency, having thoughts of harming yourself or others, or require immediate medical attention, call 911, contact 988, or go to the nearest emergency room.
Patients who require continuous provider availability, after-hours coverage, or ongoing crisis management may be better served by a larger group practice or healthcare system.

Yes. Ascending Minds Psychiatry utilizes Spruce Health, a secure HIPAA-compliant communication platform. Patients are required to create a free Spruce account to receive secure messages, appointment-related communication, and practice updates. Instructions for registration will be provided after scheduling.
